On the Graffiti Beat – is it art or not?

I think that graffiti is art but it has gotten a lot of bad rep. Usually when you think of graffiti most people are going to think of gangs and vandalism. I think that if it outside the idea of vandalism and a form of marking territories then it can be a form of art. Just like any other form of art, it takes skill and a lot of hard work, along with dedication. But because of the way it is usually used, most people see it as disrespect or as a warning sign.
