Architecture

In my opinion i beleive that the Guri New Town is a work of art. This master plan creates a new livable, walkable urban center composed of residences, commercial districts, and communities linked by boulevards and parks. Eight strategically located public green spaces form the center for each neighborhood. A below-grade retail and commercial arcade provides for high end retail at the commercial zones, and daily service retail at the residential zones. A people mover system is designed to link zones below grade to planned future stops on the Seoul subway system. Twin mixed use towers situated on a grand open lawn mark the center of the commercial district of Guri. The lawn slopes to the subterranean retail space to the city and to the water feature at the base of the towers.

I know what art is…

Well to be completely truthful, I have no idea what classifies art as art. But if I was to have to determine if something is “art” worthy I would have to say that it need to be both visually and emotionally effective. You should be able to look at it and catch your attention. It needs to make you think and question what it is that the artist is trying to convey. It should also make you feel something through the way that it is designed. The colors should convey one particular emotion and not several.

Public Art.

Public Art is art that is accessible to everyone. Public Art is especially significant within the art world, amongst curators, commissioning bodies and practitioners of public art, to whom it signifies a particular working practice, often with implications of site specificity, community involvement and collaboration. The term is sometimes also applied to include any art which is exhibited in a public space including publicly accessible buildings. Monuments, memorials and civic statuary are a few examples of public art. Some say that architectural detail is more widespread and fulfills the definition of public art. Increasingly most aspects of the built environment are seen as legitimate candidates for consideration as, or location for, public art, including, street furniture, lighting and graffiti. Public can be more than just physical works; dance, procession, street theatre even poetry have proponents that specialize in public art.

____ is culture because…

I believe that cooking is a type of culture. Just like with fashion, people can express themselves through their cooking. Cooks take pride in their work and some even go to the extreme to make them look extravagant. Not only do cooks have to make food taste great but they also have to make it visually stimulating. No one is going to eat something that looks like it came out of a sewer, despite how it tastes. This is the main reason that I feel that cooking is a culture. Here are a few photos of different things that have been cooked up that are stimulating visually.

Poetry Slam.

This is a competition at which poets read or recites original work. These performances are then judged on a numeric scale by previously selected members of the audience. It started at the Get Me High Lounge in Chicago in November 1984. Since then it has moved to its permanent Chicago home, the Green Mill Jazz Club. Members of the audience are chose by the host to act as judges for the event. Then each poet performs and each judge awards a score to that poem. A score of zero to ten is used most of the time. The highest and lowest score are dropped, giving each performance a rating between zero and thirty points. The poet with the highest score then wins the competition.

Art and Film.

Most films are not considered art, but there are some that are. Many of these films that are considered “art films”, are serious, noncommercial, independently made film s. It may thus be aimed at a niche audience, rather than a mass audience. They have to make the audience not only feel something, but also make them experience something. Their main focus is to tell a story rather than keeping the audience’s attention and making big money off of it. These “art films” are usually presented at specialty theaters and art festivals. They aren’t the types of films that you see trailers for on TV or in your local movie theater.

Artist in society.

You can usually determine the type of society that an artist is from just from the way they paint or dance. They tend to express themselves through their own experienced. Many of these experiences are only experienced in certain society. For example; a rich artists probably won’t draw or paint about poverty. This is because they are not from that type of society and don’t know what it is exactly like to be in that situation. If they were to use poverty as a focal point then they might have a completely different prospective of what poverty is then someone who lives their daily life in poverty.

Dance

Dance is a way for people to express themselves. It has been used for many, many years to tell stories and to even teach people. Back long ago it was used to tell the history of tribe’s ancestors. Tribes today still use dance to tell these stories to the people in their tribes. They also believed that through dance they were honoring the gods and that it was a way of communicating with the gods. There was a different dance for every occasion. Now days dance is still used in that say fashion just instead of communicating with the gods, it is used to communicate with an audience. It can make you feel a certain way and stimulate certain emotion inside of someone.

Fashion as art.

Fashion can in a way be seen as art. It does express the way one might feel and that is what most artists try to do through their paintings or drawings. Most look at a piece of art and can say that they feel a particular way, whether it be depressed or happy exc. These feelings can also be felt through fashion. It someone is wearing black then you might feel sad, or depresses, where as if they are wearing bright colors you may feel happy and excited. Not only can you look at what someone is wearing and feel these things but they can also express how the person wearing them feels. I believe that fashion is a form of art when it is trying to convey these types of emotions in people. But when it is used to just make money then I would have to say that it is not classified as art. It all comes down to the context that it is being displayed in.
